1========[ Letter From Sherrill & Joel ]===========
Hi Friends,
I hope that this newsletter finds all of you healthy and happy. I also hope that you have been finding time to "play" on a regular basis. The easiest way to play on a regular basis is to have a work area that is all of your own. Even having your own table with art supplies makes it easier to sit down and do your fun and creative projects. Look around your home and find that special nurturing spot and make it your own. It might even be a closet that can have the door removed to create a work area. In the Getting Started section of my book, "Creating With Paint, New Ways, New Materials" there is information about setting up your own work area using a door and carts from your local home improvement center.
I have enjoyed teaching on the east coast recently and making some wonderful new friends. Teaching is my biggest passion. I love it more than anything that I do. Unfortunately my classes in Montreal have been cancelled for this year, but will be re-scheduled for 2002 or possibly in November of this year. Keep checking the teaching schedule on my website for teaching updates. If you wish to form classes in your area, please contact me. I will do my best to accommodate you. Some wonderful new classes will be added soon to the website. Hopefully I will have the pleasure of meeting all of you in class some day.
I have just completed two new articles for Somerset Studio. The articles are on painted and rubber stamped glass luminaries and angel doll books made with our angel rubber stamps. The glass luminary article will be in the Nov./Dec. issue. Watch for the angel doll books in a future issue. The articles were so much fun to do and I hope that you will like them. I have new article in the July/August issue of Somerset Studio. It shows painting and rubber stamping on ceramics and ceramic tiles. I also have a short article on how to make a knotted necklace in the current Belle Armoire. If you haven't subscribed to either magazine, I would recommend highly that you do. Somerset is the finest rubber stamping, paper arts, and calligraphy magazine in the world. Belle Armoire is the finest wearable magazine with how do instructions that has been launched anywhere. It is growing by leaps and bounds and has only been on the newsstands for a short period of time. To subscribe to either magazine, telephone (877) Stamper, a toll free number.
In early June I shot two episodes for DIY Crafts, a new craft channel under the umbrella of Home and Garden Television. It is a Scripps Production. One segment was on painted and rubber stamped tiles and the other was on air-dry clay jewelry. Both segments will air in the fall. The website for DIY is:
http://www.diynet.com. It is an excellent website and I suggest you look at it and bookmark it for your reference files. If everyone calls their cable companies and requests the channel to be added to their cable service, there is a good chance that it will become more readily available.
In about two weeks, I will be sending you a newsletter that will have information on my upcoming NEW workshops and any changes to my current schedule.
Joel and I send very warm thoughts to all of you and hope that your lives are filled with joy.
Warmly,
Sherrill

Gluing Made Easy: Judikins Diamond Glaze
One of the biggest problems that crafter's face is gluing things in an effective and permanent manner. I have faced this challenge with many of the projects that I glue. I have tried every imaginable glue and have finally found a glue that I absolutely love. The best part is that it is non-toxic and seems to work on every surface that I try. It also cleans with water and can be used safely with children. It is called Judikins Diamond Glaze. I can glue findings to shrink plastic as easily as gluing metal pin backs to cloth. The applicator tip makes it easy to glue even the smallest beads. It can be used to glue pieces of cloth together when making stuffed elements such as small dolls and pillow beads. I was able to glue a metal coin to the front of a piece of shrink plastic and then use the Diamond Glaze to coat the piece to seal it. I only wish that I had found out earlier about this fabulous product. To find out more about Judikins Diamond Glaze, go to:

and tell them that you heard about it from Sherrill Kahn's Newsletter.
Wonderful Storage Bag for small Craft and Art supplies from the Dollar Tree:
While teaching near Washington D.C., I discovered the most wonderful plastic zipper pouch for holding a variety of creative craft goodies. It comes with three zippered pouches of various sizes and is found in the children's area of the Dollar Tree. The edges of the pouch are wonderful metallic colors with a real "dazzle" to them. I bought quite a few to hold my teaching supplies and to also hold scissors, beads, yarn, cord, glue sticks, etc. We live in a suburb of Los Angeles and Joel and I discovered a Dollar Tree in Reseda, very near our home while driving yesterday. I am ecstatic since the Dollar Tree is loaded with wonderful "goodies" in nearly every department of the store. I have been a Dollar Tree junkie since I discovered it in Fresno last year and was alarmed to find it absent from Los Angeles. To find the store in your area, go to:

Another wonderful store with inexpensive, yet fabulous goodies, is the 99 cents store. Walk its aisles for great products to use in your creative projects. To find the store in your area, go to:

Have Fun!!!
