1========[ Letter From Sherrill & Joel ]===========

Dear Stamping Friends,

Joel and I would like to wish you a very Happy Holidays. We hope that 2003 is filled with health, happiness, love, and good friends.

We returned from Australia on December 5th. The trip was absolutely incredible. We met so many wonderful new friends when we were there. I taught outside of Sydney at Mooney Mooney and also in Melbourne . I loved the wonderful women I met in the classes. Their generosity and sense of humor were absolutely delightful.

Joel is in the process of trying to get credit cards through pay pal. It is much more complex than we had anticipated, especially because we have the policy of buy four, get one free with the stamp sets. Don't give up on us. We hope to have it in place early this year.

My fabric is now available for sale. If you click on the Home Page and scroll down, you will see a link to Hancock's of Paducah and www.eQuilter.com.  If you click on those links, it will bring you to my fabric. The prices are very reasonable. Each site has a different selection of fabric, so if you are interested in the fabric check both web sites. I have made a vest and jacket so far with the fabric and just love working with it. The fabric is being hand-screened in Japan . I hope that you like it.

I have an article in the November/December "Quilting Arts" magazine. It is on making small quilts with painted fabrics. I also have an article in the latest "Somerset Studio". The article is on freestanding angel doll books.

I met a wonderful artist while I was in Mooney Mooney . Her name is Pearl Moon. I have a link to her on the website. She offers extraordinary online classes. I talked to a number of people that have taken her classes and they all raved about how excellent they are. To check it out, click on her link on our links page.

I would also like you to view two more incredible links. One is for Lois Ericson. Lois is a long time mentor to me and I think her talent knows no bounds. Joel and I were lucky enough to visit her at her home in Reno a few weeks ago. Here is her link: http://www.designandsew.com

Another new link is Diane Ericson, Lois' daughter. She is another incredibly talented artist and teacher. I will be teaching for Diane in May in Oregon . You will love her site. Her link is: http://revisions-ericson.com

Sherrill's sorbets should be out by early February this year. They are working on the label right now. I know that a lot of you have the travel paint studio and are very anxious to get the sorbets. The sorbets will come in jars and an exciter pack of eight squeeze bottles and a bottle of Halo Pink Gold Lumiere in the set.

Watch the Teaching Schedule for new classes. I have added a two-day doll class in Fresno in August and have classes in September at Tayo's Fabrics in Fair Oaks and at Northwest Sewing in Bellevue , Washington . I will be in Montana in February, St. Charles Missouri in March, Atlanta and Asheville in April, Oregon in May, and a whole month in England . I will teach in England from June 6th to July 3rd.

I am working on finishing my book, which is due to hit the bookstores in August of next year. The manuscript has been sent and is now at the designer's. I will see a final copy to edit in a couple of months.

We hope that this newsletter finds all of you creating happily by yourself, and with family and friends.

Warm hugs,

Sherrill and Joel

3===============[ Creative Tip ]===================

Making Gorgeous Paintings using Gloss Paper and Dye-na-flows, Sorbets and Lumiere (I used paint from my Travel Paint Studio). Your paintings can be framed or turned into bookcovers, cards, source material for inkjet cloth items, manipulated on your computer to create more wonderful designs, etc.

  1. Use gloss paper from paper warehouses, or Ranger's gloss paper from rubber stamp stores.

  2. Squeeze a line of Goldenrod Dye-na-flow onto the gloss paper.

  3. Use a hydrophilic sponge and spread the Goldenrod Dye-na-flow in a random pattern on the gloss paper.

  4. Squeeze a line of Violet or Perwinkle Dye-na-flow through the Goldenrod pattern.

  5. Press a dry Impress Me rubber stamp into the wet Dye-na-flow and print the stamp pattern into another area of the gloss paper.

  6. Squeeze a line of Scarlet Red Dye-na-flow through the other colors and also press a dry Impress Me rubber stamp into the wet color. Print the color onto another area of your paper.

  7. Shake up the small jar of mint sorbet from the Travel Paint Studio.

  8. Use the end of the sponge to remove paint from the lid of the jar or use an applicator tip to put paint onto the sponge.

  9. Block out areas of the design using the sorbet color. The matte finish of the sorbet will contrast nicely with gloss of the Dye-na-flows.

  10. Add applicator tipped lines to complete your creation.

    Have Fun!!!!
