1======= [ Letter From Sherrill & Joel ]==========

Dear Friends,

Joel and I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a very Happy and Healthy New Year. May it be filled with only wonderful things for each and every one of you.

Thank you so very much for your support. Joel and I deeply appreciate it. If you need personal help or have any questions, please do not hesitate to telephone or email me. No question is too small for a response and I will answer your questions as soon as possible. Make sure you check my teaching schedule because I am out of town a lot this year. If I am teaching in a town near you, I would love to have you as a student in one of my classes.

I will be gone for a month from Feb. 13 to Mar. 11. I will always bring my laptop with me so that I can answer your questions if you email me.

** Now for the exciting news **
My book is out. The title is "Creating With Paint, New Ways, New Materials". I am thrilled with the book. It is filled with color, lots of hands on techniques and eight projects on a variety of surfaces. Throughout the book, there are large color photos of work that is quite easily produced by all of you. I hope that you will like it. It can be ordered from our website, go to: http://www.impressmenow.com/books.htm

Also, you can order it from your local bookstore or rubber stamp store. If I am coming to an area near you this year, I will be delighted to autograph the book for you.

I am also writing many articles for Somerset Studio and Belle Armoire this year. Coming soon to Somerset Studio is an article on air-dried clay. I am currently writing an article on painting and rubber stamping on ceramic. Future articles for Somerset will include painting and rubber stamping on glass and metal. For Belle Armoire I will have an article on painting on cloth for the premiere issue-April 1. Future issues will have fabric motifs, and velvet embossing with metallic paints to enrich the surface.

Check the website for new pieces in the Artwork section. I will be adding continually to this section. We will notify you every time that we add new artwork to the website.

I will be creating another project for the Projects section soon. So watch for a newsletter letting you know when this happens.

Again, Joel and I wish you a very Happy and Healthy New Year.

Warmest Regards,

Sherrill and Joel

2=========[ HANDY TIP ]=================

Students often complain that it is hard to keep their paints organized. I organize all of my paint by type-such as fabric paint, acrylics, ceramic and glass, metal, etc. By having your paint grouped by type, it is easy to see colors that you need and to replace colors that are nearly empty. I use flat plastic containers, such as Rubbermaid, to hold the paint, or put the paint in drawers adjacent to my work area. Large rolling plastic carts with drawers are available at Costco and Office Supply stores and are wonderful for organizing your paint.

To identify the color of paint easily, put a drop of color on the lid. Organize the paint by color--put all of the warm colors together, the cool colors together, the earth colors together, black and white together, and metallic colors together. When working on a project, it will be easy to pick out the color that you need and replace it.

Organize other materials, such as felt pens, etc. by color. I put all of my markers and gel rollers in round food containers, about 6" high and about 4 to 5" across. By organizing your markers by color, it will save time when doing your creative projects.

In my book, I have a whole section about setting up a workspace and organizational tips. It will add to information that I have provided here.

If you keep your paints and colorants organized by type and color, you will save time and make it much easier to create all of those wonderful projects that you love to do!!!
