1======== [ Letter From Sherrill & Joel ]==========

Hi Everyone,

It has been quite awhile since we wrote last but we have many new things to share with you. We hope that this newsletter finds all of you happy and healthy. In this newsletter we have a new creative tip and updates to the teaching schedule. I am writing to you from Atlantic City. From here I will teach at G Street Fabrics in Rockville, Maryland. For those of you in the area, I think there might be a few spots in the Creative Necklace Class on April 22. I have a full teaching schedule through 2002 and into 2003. I hope that I will be in an area near you and that I have the pleasure of meeting you. The response to the new rubber stamp sets has been very exciting. I am enjoying using them to add texture to all of my creative projects.

The response to my book, "Creating With Paint, New Ways, New Materials" has been very gratifying. Thank you so much for your support and kind words. They mean so much to me. I hope that the directions are clear and that all of you who own the book are enjoying doing some of the techniques. Don't be afraid to try the projects with small children as well. The projects have been geared to all ages and are simple enough for anyone to try.

If Joel and I can be of any help to you, please let us know. We always travel with our laptop so that we can answer our email. We will be back in the office on May 8, so if you have placed an order in the meantime, please be patient with us. Also, we will be unable to take phone calls until after May 8.
Thank you so much for your continual support and encouragement.

Warm regards,

Joel and Sherrill

Jacquard's Dye-na-Flow-available from Rupert, Gibbon and Spyder: (800) 442-0455 or you can access their website from our links page
Scissors
Eyedroppers (available from Jacquard)
Water container and water
Card Stock, watercolor paper, printmaking paper, or fabric (the fabric should be a light, plain color) The paper can be glossy paper, also available from Ranger in packages of different sizes, including greeting cards.
Spray bottle
Paper Towels
Apron to cover your clothing
Plastic to cover your work surface
Pieces of freezer paper larger than your paper or fabric

Ranger Stamp Cut and Dry Stamp Pad Foam is a very versatile product for many reasons. It can be used in conjunction with pre-existing rubber stamps or it can be used to make prints. It can be cut to any shape and size. When you purchase the foam, read the directions from Liz Sewald on the back of the package. I used the foam in a slightly different manner. See the directions as follows:

Directions:

 1.  Cut your foam to the desired size with a pair of scissors.
2.  Soak the foam in clean water.
3.  Wring out the foam
4.  Place your fabric or paper on a piece of freezer paper.
5.  Spray the fabric or paper with a fine mist spray bottle.
6.  Turn the foam to the white side and apply Dye-na-Flow in
desired color combinations with an eyedropper.
7.  Print the Dye-na-Flow on either paper or fabric. The prints
can be side by side or can be printed in any combination.
If doing striped designs, the stripes can be alternated for
     a pleasant pattern.
8.  Re-ink and reapply the colors as needed.

Projects using the foam printing:

1.  Scarves
2.  Books
3.  Greeting Cards
4.  Fabric jewelry such as pins, necklaces, earrings, and fabric
motifs (see the Newsletter Archives for information about
fabric motifs). The techniques are also in my book.
5.  Decoration for pre-constructed clothing
6.  Fine art painting.
7.  Use your imagination. The possibilities are endless.

Have Fun!!!!
